Cell Groups

cell groupIn the Bible, the early church met frequently in both big gatherings and smaller groups based in a home. We seek to emulate this practice at GPC. As well as meeting together on Sundays we meet in smaller groups called ‘cells’. These are the foundation of our church life.

Cell groups normally meet once a week in homes and are opportunities to get to know people better, discover more about God and the Bible and their relevance to real life today.

Most Cell groups meet during the evening, but don’t worry if your evenings are too busy, we do run a daytime group as well.

Cell Group Values
“A group of people, held together by a common thread, Jesus the cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20); called to be an expression of the God’s free gift of love”

Called to be a community of GRACE, in which we are:

Growing in our relationship with God
Reaching out in love
being an Authentic community
wholly Christ centred
with Everyone involved

Daytime Cells

If you are around during the day, feel free to join our daytime cell. You can even bring your youngsters with you! For more information contact Charlotte.

Evening Cells

We have several cells that meet in various homes throughout the week.  Cells generally meet on Tuesdays and Wednesday evenings, but also arrange socials events on other nights and even weekends.  For information about cells please see below or contact Charlie.

Lester Williams’ Cell

This cell has around 20 members, although an average week’s attendance is about 8 people. We truly reflect the GPC vision of being called to be ‘Good News to Grange Park and Beyond’ as over half our membership live outside of Grange Park. Our age range is equally diverse, spanning early 20s to 50+! Currently we meet on alternate Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and once a month on a Sunday we visit Merrifield Residential Home in Wootton to sing and chat to the residents. We are a friendly group who enjoy being together and helping each other to grow in our knowledge of God through lively discussion, bible study and prayer. The Group has a warm and supportive atmosphere in which we enjoy challenging each other as part of our collective learning. We also like having fun and our regular socials have recently included a Curry Night, drinks at the Grange Inn, a Barbeque and a games afternoon. We are always keen to welcome new members, please contact Lester on 01604 401832 for more information.

Who's who?

Alan - More about Alan will appear here shortly.

lesterLester is Welsh! A husband, father, and recently a grandfather too, he says he is still a big kid at heart. He enjoys making ‘games’ from others cast-away items e.g. for Kidzone, and loves the company of people, especially when food is involved (only joking if this is being read by his doctor). He has enjoyed many roles in his considerable ’Christian’ journey, including Children's and Youth Work, House Group leading, and as part of a leadership team. He has managed a number of career changes…Architecture, Graphic Design and Marketing, and is now a consultant in ‘the analysis of how buildings are used’ (Police, Councils and NHS). Wow he must be older (but wiser) than he looks!

Bridget - More about Bridget will appear here shortly.

Charlotte is married to Charlie, with 4 children (all in school). In a former life she worked as a primary teacher. She spends her working week in the community of Grange Park, with a particular emphasis on building community amongst young families. She feels role here is too good to be true - She loves all the friendships, being part of such a warm and open community, being able to run Stepping Stones, Journeys, Kidzone, puppet shows, Talking Point, assemblies and so forth. Her favourite past time is hockey, and she runs every day. Her favourite pod-casts come from Rob Bell's church called Mars Hill - he's a genius. One of her favourite TV shows is 'House'. But don't ever ask her to iron!

Jenny - More about Jenny will appear shortly.
