The Grid (School Years 7-9)
THE GRID is an exciting new group for all young people in Years 7, 8 and 9. It will take the form of informal discussions, Bible Study, sharing, support and socials.   We hope that this group will not only be FOR the young people, but SHAPED by them.   For the rest of this term we will be following the same theme as the adults – Community. Co-ordinated by Portia (401695) and Margaret (769141).

KidZone
This is an annual event run by GPC. We have a variety of activities including bouncy castles, sumo suits, arts & crafts, face painting and of course refreshments. We never cease to be amazed as to as real sense of God’s blessing as we run this event. Last year it attracted over 400 adults and children.

Bubbles

Bubbles (Age 0-4)Bubbles is the Sunday morning group for 0-4 year olds and runs on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th (5th) Sundays of each month. The number of children at each session averages about 8 though has peaked to as many as 12. With many of the leaders new to leading this group it has been a time of learning what works best and what to expect from this age group which can be a challenge as this group tends to give the least feedback in a session.  However with lots of singing and music and acting out of the stories the children have had fun and learned at the same time, with most weeks also incorporating a small craft activity to help them remember what they learned that day.  Not only have the children grown more comfortable with the group but the leaders have also grown and become more confident in their ability to lead the sessions.

Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones

"Stepping Stones is not just for children..."     Beryl Cobb

Stepping Stones is an exciting group that meets twice a month. It is an opportunity for parents, carers and their pre-school children to meet, share breakfast, and to hear some stories told from the Bible, with nursey rhymes, props, puppets, arts and crafts and songs. We meet twice monthly in the Community Centre, on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 9.15am to 11.00am (except during school holidays).

The Grid

The Grid (School years 7-9)

The Grid is the Sunday morning group for young people in Years 7, 8 and 9. It runs on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, (5th) Sundays of the month.   It was formed in November 2008 and we follow the Light Live material from Scripture Union.   The format is mainly discussion based, but we have also done some more in-depth bible study and a meditation.   The aim is to prepare the young people for the next stages in their life and to ease the transition into the main Sunday congregation.   We have 8 young people in the group and regularly have a full turn-out.   We also enjoyed a Christmas Social evening and went to Ultimate Event at Alton Towers with members of Youth Cell in May.  Recent social events have included a successful barbeque which the young people invited their friends along to.

Xstream

Xstream (School Years 4-6)

Xstream is a Sunday morning Children’s Group for children aged 8 - 11 (school years 4 - 6). It has been running since September 2008 with a team of 6 leaders, 2 per week. For 3/4 weeks in every month (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th Sundays) two leaders have led a group of around 8 children in a wide range of activities provided by Light Live (Scripture Union). The material has been excellent and the group has experienced: worship, prayer, bible reading, memory verses, games, drama, poems, sharing, fun and laughter. The leaders have been meeting quarterly to review what’s been working well and discussing what could be changed. This resulted in the older children of 11 years plus forming a new group (The Grid), after 3 months, and has also resulted in the Xstream leaders adapting the material to enable more time for prayer and sharing to ensure that the children have more of a spiritual experience. The time of the group has also been extended from 45 to 60 minutes to enable the adults to have a longer period of uninterrupted time in the main church service and also to make better use of the material and time with the children. Feedback from the children has been very positive and this is demonstrated each week by the high level of enthusiasm and participation in all the activities. For the leaders it has been a great to work with a partner, gain confidence and learn more about God.
