The Kairos Centre

KairosOur Vision

Our vision for this building is to provide a place where anyone can come and take time out from the busyness of life and be restored in mind, body and spirit.

We are concerned that new housing areas run the risk of becoming soulless dormitory estates and so the church is working hard to help build a lively and life-giving community in Grange Park.

A warm welcome awaits in a relaxing café style; a place to unwind and meet with others over a tea or coffee. Affordable meeting and conference space will also be a high quality available community facility.

Meeting the needs of our thriving church and growing new community lies at the heart of our new building vision.

GPC Partnership with SNC
The building, located opposite the Health Centre not far from Budgens, is currently empty and undeveloped and assigned for community use. Subject to landlord approval, Grange Park Church and South Northants Council will work in partnership to develop the new building and facilities which will be run by Grange Park Church

Church Facilities
The building will provide a much needed centre of operations for the thriving church, enabling it to further support and improve its active community, children's and youth work. It will offer additional space for a wide range of church events and activities, including worship.

Events, activities and opportunities
Building on its already strong relationship with Grange Park's health professionals, GPC will seek to use the facility to offer wellbeing and lifestyle events for all adult ages together with other possible support opportunities linked to local health and social services such as mental health and debt management. The building will also offer a quiet place for people who need to think or pray. Parent and toddler activities, children's work and youth opportunities will also be at the heart of our service to the community.

Fundraising
Grange Park Church is now beginning a campaign to raise the £250,000 necessary to develop and furnish the interior. Annual running costs will be met by Church members and other supporters of this exciting project.

The Team

Lisa Smith – Project Manager Why did I become involved in the Kairos Centre Project? In 2006, when GPC was first considering taking on the empty building, Charlie asked the church members to have a day of prayer and fasting to see what God was saying about it.  I fasted, and as I was asking God about the Kairos Centre the words 'lonely' and 'lonely people' resounded over and over in my head.  I wasn't sure whether I was hearing God or my thoughts, so I asked God to help me determine whose voice it was.  I then opened my Bible at Psalm 68, and the line 'God sets the lonely in families' jumped out at me (verse 6).  Ever since then I have had a passion for the Kairos Centre and a belief that it will be an inclusive place where everyone will feel welcome and where lonely people will be able to find friendship and community. At that same time I had also been praying about a few personal things.... Firstly, I was asking for God's guidance in deciding the next step in my career. I had become frustrated with managing projects I felt no passion for, and I was asking God whether I should remain in project management or move into a different field.  Secondly, I wanted to devote more of my time to my family, to GPC and to the Grange Park community, and I was asking God's help in prioritising.  When Charlie asked for volunteers to work on the Kairos Centre project and said he really needed someone to help plan and co-ordinate the project, I felt that God was giving me the opportunity I had asked for..... a chance to work on a project that I feel truly passionate about and inspired by.  I believe the Kairos Centre will be an amazing channel for God's love and good news, in Grange Park and beyond.
